Flour and Fiber; The Satisfying Harmony.
About nine-tenth of the persons I have met in the entirety of my life feel I am a very weird person. Well, who wouldn't call me weird?
It is my pleasure to introduce you to the most popular (arguably) street food I have ever known. Believe me, this particular combo is the perfect Pair, needless to say that it is a very satisfying harmony that has been imbibed by students as it is tasteful and of course very very satisfying.
The combination of Beans (whether porridge or garnished with stew) and bread has been saving lives since time immemorial.
When I was running my IJMB program, I still can remember that I had about five "mama put" ( a street canteen) where I visited regularly just to fill the tank in my abdomen. The most interesting part is that the vendors already knew my guys and I, we need not ask, they just serve bread and beans.
Have you visited mechanic shops? Have you seen how they consume this combo?
Have you been to building sites? Have you seen how bricklayers and most workers at the site consume beans and bread?
If we are to talk about street food, then bread and beans have it for me.
They're a perfect pairing..
They have a very satisfying harmony..
They are the breadwinner of the street and how they became the ultimate team is a mystery that may never get demystified by any human.
I am not Oliver Twist, neither am I Temmy Twist, However, it'll be expedient for me to take this particular twist.
Few years ago, something terrible happened after downing a very beautiful combo of the perfect pair. I ate beans and bread and in no time fell into the ever soft hands of sleep and then in about four hours time, there was a twist - from the ever pleasing taste and satisfying appeal of beans and bread to a feeling that was in between retching and gnashing of teeth.
Dear Readership, I later discovered that it was at this moment that it dawned on me that INDIGESTION can be a thorn on people's flesh.
Indigestion is characterized by discomfort and/or pain in the upper abdomen and it is often accompanied by bloat, acid reflux, abdominal swelling, etc. It is also known as Dyspepsia .
Dear Readership, in my own case, what really happened that day is that I ate beans and bread, a combo that contains complex fibers and complex sugars and as such should take very good amount of hours for it to get digested.. However, I went ahead to sheepishly fall into the ever loving arm of sleep and as such there was little time for it to get digested, which led to bloat, discomfort and indigestion. Also, another major contributor was that whilst I slept, there was increased abdominal pressure and as such some of the undigested beans and bread were pushed back up to around the chest region, and of course acid reflux.
Now, what am I even saying in essence?
In essence, all I am saying is that you should watch your eating habits and most times bad eating habits are causes of indigestion.
Eat at the right time.
Eat Balanced Diet.
Do not sleep after a heavy meal.
For Flour and Fiber to remain the undisputed satisfying harmony, always make sure to eat them as they should be eaten.
Any way, till we get to the promised land, I shall be waiting for when you'll pass me a glass of water and thank God for the gift of grace for this race.
