Mon Cher Amor, My Sweet Love, My Valentine
Back in the interior of Pa Ishaku’s Hall
Where faces were meant to be on desks.
My eyes wandered around like a lost sheep
They rested on a figure behind me - An angel without wings!
Her eyes glimmered in the colors of gold,
Her smile as lovely as the sunflower,
I saw the contours of her body, mesmerizing!!
The look on her face could move mountains.
What about her pride and priceless brown skin?
A feel of her touch, and you’ll be in paradise,
Wow! This was Pa Ishaku’s present!
She was as focused as a lion monitoring its prey,
And I, a bird on a wire, trying not to look down,
I asked if I could disturb,
The way she smiled made me feel the way I.. I can’t describe,
And the angel without wings became Moyinoluwa.
Moyinoluwa, just like the first time…
My feelings never get old
In your eyes, I see a world!
(Stellar scenes! With you in it!!),
My heart is still an empty sac,
Come in and make me feel like a million buck,
Be my Mom Cher Amor, My Sweet Love, My Valentine.
After I submitted the above poem, I felt like it would be nice to tell the short story about the birth and emergence of the poem.
It's a poem I wrote to confess my love to a lady called Moyinoluwa and I really do hope she will reply in the affirmative to my proposal.
Now, let's get the ball rolling.
Pa Ishaku is the name we call a particular lecture theater in my school. It is actually P.A Ishaku Lecture theater but who has time to ba calling the P.A? (laughs). We students just called the P and A together and so it became Pa Ishaku...
The lecture theater is always opened so we that students can have a place to read and that's why I said in the poem above "where faces were meant to be on desks". Fortunately for me, I think I got tired that day and decided to rest my eyes, my eyes began to wander about like a lost sheep as I scanned the whole lecture theatre. However, my eyes rest on a figure behind me and she was indeed and Angel. All that was left for her was to have wings. I kid you not. She was so beautiful that I had to compare her smile to the sunflower. I thought to myself that if she could touch me, I would teleport into the heavens.. Paradise. If she say yes to my proposal of Love, I would definitely be safe if I call her Pa Ishaku's priceless present. Or, better still, P. A Ishaku's priceless present. That's about stanza one.
Let's move to stanza two. Of course, she was busy reading and that's the reason I said "she was as focused as a lion, monitoring its prey". I had to ask her if I could disturb and guess what? She smiled.. I melted. In fact, that I melted was an understatement. I couldn't even describe my feelings. I went on to ask for her name and she said.. "Moyinoluwa" and that was how she became Moyinoluwa. Well, just like that first time when I saw her, my feelings haven't gotten old, in her eyes I see a world, Moyinoluwa and I featuring therein, with stellar scenes and to be candid, my heart is still an empty sac, no one is therein. I wish she would say yes to my proposal so she can some in and my make feel like a million Bucks.
Be as it may, even if she doesn't say yes to my proposal, she will forever be my Mon Cher Amor, My Sweet Love, My Valentine.. at least in my head.
To be candid, I'll continue to wait for when she will pass me a glass of water and thank God for the gift of Grace for this Race.
