TOP KILLER CANCERS
There was this particular day.. I got home from the clinic and I met my younger sister crying bitterly. I am not sure I have ever seen her cry like that. Not even those days when we were young. Of course, I was disturbed as to why she was crying that bitterly. At the long run, she told me her friend passed away and that he had leukemia, popularly known as blood cancers.
Also, there's this woman i used to know in my church. She calls me pastor and I call her mummy. I just noticed that she stopped coming to church for a very long time. After making Little enquiry from my own end, I got to know that she had breast cancer and she was operated on. After, some days, she also passed away. CANCER IS DEFINITELY A WAR YOU SHOULD NEVER WISH ANYONE TO FIGHT. IT IS VERY DEADLY BUT I KNOW THAT ONE DAY, WE WILL FIND A CURE TO CANCER.
There's no iota of doubt that a lot of people have lost their lives to the cold hands of death and inadvertently as a result of cancer. I should have made this post on WORLD CANCER DAY, however, it is not too late. In fact, a saying goes thus "It is better to be late than to be a late". Therefore, I have made a compilation of top cancers that have killed over the years. I didn't just make compilations, I also wrote some ways to prevent and reduce your risk of having them.
1. BREAST CANCER; Breast cancer is a type of cancer that begins in the breast tissue. It can occur in both men and women, but it's much more common in women. The most common type of breast cancer is called "invasive ductal carcinoma," which starts in the milk ducts of the breast and can spread to other parts of the body. Other types of breast cancer include "invasive lobular carcinoma," "ductal carcinoma in situ," and "lobular carcinoma in situ." Breast cancer can be diagnosed through a variety of methods, including mammograms, ultrasounds, and biopsies. You can reduce your risk by doing the following - self breast examination, exclusive breastfeeding, reduce the use of oral contraceptives, reduce alcohol taking, know history of breast cancer in your family and eat healthy.
2. LUNG CANCER: Lung cancer is a type of cancer that starts in the lungs. It can be either "non-small cell lung cancer" or "small cell lung cancer." Non-small cell lung cancer is the most common type, and it can be further divided into subtypes like adenocarcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and large cell carcinoma. Small cell lung cancer is a less common but more aggressive type of lung cancer. Both types of lung cancer can spread to other parts of the body, and they're usually treated with a combination of surgery, radiation, and/or chemotherapy. You can reduce your risk of having this by doing the following - stop smoking, avoid staying around smokers, live in an environment with reduced air pollution.
3. CERVICAL CANCER: Cervical cancer is a type of cancer that starts in the cervix, which is the lower part of the uterus that opens into the vagina. The most common type of cervical cancer is called "squamous cell carcinoma," which starts in the cells that line the cervix. Another type of cervical cancer is called "adenocarcinoma," which starts in the glandular cells of the cervix. Cervical cancer is usually diagnosed through a Pap smear, which is a screening test that looks for abnormal cells in the cervix. Treatment options include surgery, radiation, and/or chemotherapy. You can reduce your risk of having it by doing the following - get vaccinated, go for pap smear, avoid unprotected sex and multiple partners.
4. PROSTATE CANCER: Prostate cancer is a type of cancer that starts in the prostate gland, which is a small gland in men that produces fluid for semen. The most common type of prostate cancer is called "adenocarcinoma," which starts in the glandular cells of the prostate. Other types of prostate cancer include small cell carcinoma, transitional cell carcinoma, and sarcoma. Prostate cancer is usually diagnosed through a prostate-specific antigen (PSA) test, a digital rectal exam, or a biopsy. Treatment options include surgery, radiation, hormone therapy, and/or chemotherapy. You can reduce your risk by doing the following - know the history in your family, eat healthy, stop smoking, regular check up especially if you are over 40 years of age.
5. COLON CANCER: Reduce your risk by doing the following - stop smoking, reduce alcohol, know the history in your family.
6. STOMACH CANCER: You can reduce your risk to it by doing the following - reduce alcohol, treat ulcer if you have one.
7. LIVER CANCER: Reduce your risk by doing the following - stop smoking, reduce alcohol, stop eating mouldy groundnut and dirty tomatoes.
8. TESTICULAR CANCER: Testicular cancer is type of cancer that starts in the testicles, which are the male reproductive glands located in the scrotum. The most common type of testicular cancer is called "seminoma," which starts in the germ cells of the testicles. Another type of testicular cancer is called "non-seminoma," which can start in different types of cells in the testicles. Testicular cancer is usually diagnosed through a physical exam, an ultrasound, and/or a biopsy. Treatment options include surgery, radiation, and/or chemotherapy. You can reduce your risks by doing the following - Do regular self examination.
9. PENIS AND VAGINA CANCER: Avoid unprotected sex, get your HPV vaccines, try not to have multiple partners.
10. CANCER OF THE MOUTH: Mouth cancer, also known as oral cancer, is a type of cancer that starts in the mouth or in the throat. There are several types of mouth cancer, including squamous cell carcinoma, salivary gland cancer, and lymphoma. Mouth cancer can affect any part of the mouth, including the lips, gums, tongue, and inside of the cheeks. Symptoms of mouth cancer can include a sore or ulcer that doesn't heal, a lump or thickening in the mouth, and trouble swallowing. Treatment options for mouth cancer include surgery, radiation, and/or chemotherapy. Early detection and treatment are key to a good outcome. Make sure to reduce oral sex.
That's just some of the most popular cancers. I hope that one day, we will find a solution to the menace of cancer.
Till we get to the promised land, I shall be waiting for when you will pass me a glass of water and thank God for the gift of grace for the race.
